Dogs with flatter faces and stubby noses, such as Pugs and English Bull Dogs, are impacted more by the heat, veterinarian Virginia Leis said. Dogs use panting as a way of regulating body temperature, but the respiratory systems in the short nose breeds are not as well equipped for handling the heat.
