Project Clarity update

Travis Williams is leading the charge to clean up the Macatawa Watershed.  the Outdoor Discovery Center Macatawa Greenway and partnering with other community orgranization in the goal of reducing the phosphorus on Lake Mac by 70 percent.  Travis joins Aaron Spicer…Agricultural Technician with the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council…to talk about Farmers and Project Clarity.

The Holland Department of Public Safety releases its annual crime report for 2014

Ottawa County Patriot Party Community Forum on the Grand Haven cross and the religious sign in Hager Park.

A civil rights group has objected to religious signs and symbols in Ottawa County.  First it was the cross on Dewey Hill in Grand Haven and then a sign with a biblical verse in an Ottawa County Park.  The Ottawa County Patriots have organized a community forum for all to express themselves.

Tony Reidsma Photograher capturing beautiful frozen images of Lake Michigan.

Tony Reidsma doesn’t like the cold.  So to battle the cold and freezing temperatures, he decided to document Lake Michigan during the winter.   The results are now on display at the Holland Area Arts Council.  Frozen in time captures the Big Lake during the winter of 2013-14.

Zeeland Superintendent Cal DeKuiper loses sleep over millage election

the night before the bond election in Zeeland, Superintendant Cal DeKuiper sleep well.  He thought he and other officials and teachers had prepared well for the upcoming millage election.  But after voters approved the 53.5 million dollar bond, DeKuiper says he didn’t sleep well at all.

Terry Larkin’s near death (light) experience.

In 1982, Terry Larkin died in a car crash.  Moments after seeing doctors in an emergency desperately  trying to save her, she went toward some intense white light…..listen to what happens next during our interview on “the Light  GAP”

Jane Horton…widow of an American Sniper

Chris Horton died fighting for freedom in Afghanistan in 2011.  His widow, Jane, honors his memory everytime she speaks about his which is often.  Jane has moved to Washington DC and for an organization helping the families of fallen soliders.

Updating the lawbooks in Michigan. State Representative Chris Afendoulis

There are over 3,000 criminal laws in Michigan.  Many have been on the books for decades and do not apply to modern society.  Republican State Representative Chris Afendoulis of Grand Rapids Township is co-chairing a workgroup that hopes to update and streamline ours laws in the state.

Kids Count 2015 Report. Kids Poverty rates are up in Michigan

Michigan League for Public Policy puts out a yearly report relating to the well being of children in Michigan.  Ottawa County is tied for number one with Livingston County.  but the number of children in Ottawa living under poverty has increased dramatically by 66 percent.  We have a conversation with Michigan League for Public Policy executive director Jane Zender Merill.

  3. Thanks, Jason, for a terrific interview with Bobbie Gaunt this morning on the Saugatuck Douglas consolidation. She is a terrific representative of our group and makes the case for consolidation very effectively. Smaller, more efficient government and a unified strategic vision for our one community is in everyone’s interest.
